Boys' soccer seeks county championship
Central Yorks’ boys’ soccer team is hoping to achieve another successful year. There are personal and team goals this year. “The team goals are to win counties, districts and at least win one game of states,” said Noah Baylor, a senior who plays right back. The team’s record at publication this year is 6-1, with only a defeat against Lower Dauphin.
Nick Starr, a sophomore who plays center back, and Baylor both have personal goals. “ My personal goal is to improve at the center back position and as a soccer player overall,” said Starr. Baylor also said about his new right back position this season “My goal is to try and learn my position because it’s the first time I have played here.”
Starr says that despite their everyday joking, “We love to joke around with each other at practice but we know to be serious and always get the job done. Games are no joking matter to us,” said Michael Tolley, a senior who plays the offensive position of a right forward. “I would say that our team has the best relationship between one another that we have had in the past years,” said Baylor.
Both Baylor and Tolley agree Gettysburg or Lower Dauphin are their toughest competition this season.
In the district, Dallastown and Red Lion are the ones to look out for. “We have always been very competitive in games and we need to be at our very best in order to beat them,” said Starr.
