Brooke and Tim Buzynski have more in common these days than a place to rest their heads…and their legs. In fact, the senior and sophomore siblings spend most of their waking hours together too: training, running and cheering each other on at meets and practice for Central’s cross country team. Tim, with a time of 17:15 holds the record for the fastest male runner on the team and credits his sister and family for the inspiration he needs to channel that force on the courses. “She’s my biggest fan. We definitely give each other support, “ he said of Brooke, who says she hopes to continue her running next year at college. Brooke’s 3.1 mile (5k) time is 22:40. She said that that since she and her brother have committed to running, their father has taken up the sport as well. Even their younger sister, an eighth grader, competes on the middle school cross country team. Both say Coach Randy Mumford has been their driving force through his team and personal discipline, his wisdom and his years of experience. “He trains us to be the best we can be,” said Brooke. “He has this motto he says to us all the time: Practice the run. Become the run. Forget about the run.”
