Talent permeates the halls of Central York High School and on Jan. 21, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., 12 of the students who were selected to advance from tryouts will showcase their talent in the high school auditorium.

"There will be a diverse range of talent in this year’s talent show. We will not only have our classic acts, such as singing and dancing, but we will also have unique acts thrown in there as well," said high school diversity specialist and talent show adviser, Clydiene Francis.

The talent show this year will be a competition between the 12 acts that have made it through the tryouts, each having to go through two rounds. In the first round, all 12

will compete, but the second round will only feature the top three.

"Unlike last year, the people who are performing have to have two acts prepared just in case they make it through to the second round,” said Francis. “I believe that this is going to be more entertaining for the audience because these kids are really going to work hard to be one of the acts to make it through to the second round.”

There will be a guest panel of three to five judges, which will consist of teachers and students. They will have to judge to see who makes it to the second round and then ultimately pick a winner. There will be two emcees this year: A'Rreal Collins and Courtney Barbour.

"This year is going to be kind of different from last year because when they showcase their talent in the first round, they have to work hard to show the judges and the audience that they gave their all," said Barbour.

The talent show is open to everyone, but there will be an entrance fee of $5 for students that are outside of the school district and $2 for Central York students. The proceeds will go to a charity that will be announced after the talent show. “We want to encourage people to come out and support the youth for doing something that they are passionate about," said Francis.
