It is that time of year again when the leaves begin to change colors and the weather starts to cool down. There are many fun fall activities that you can do with your friends and family. Here are five local activities to enjoy during the fall season:
Pumpkin Picking:
At Flinchbaugh’s Orchard & Farm Market, you can grab a wagon and walk through the pumpkin patch. There you can find small to extra large pumpkins for your choosing to pick fresh off the vine that will be perfect for decorating or carving. Pumpkin Carving:
After going to Flinchbaugh’s and picking out the perfect carving pumpkins, you can get started creating jack-o-lanterns. To carve a creative looking pumpkin it is best to draw an outline of what you want to carve. First, you also can find a design online to print and lay over your pumpkin as a guide. To make the carving as easy as possible, make sure you gut from the pumpkin and wipe the outside clean.
Corn Mazes:
At Seyfert’s Corn Maze you can explore on 14 acres of land. This corn maze is one of the largest corn mazes in the area. They also have the corn maze lit up so you can go at night as well. Seyfert’s is open Friday, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. It is located at 1800 East King Street Lebanon, PA 17042.
Hayrides:
At Smysers Farm, for only $5 dollars, you can go on a tractor-pulled hayride that brings you into the spirit of fall. On the hayride, there will be great places to take pictures of the fall scenery. There are also places you can get off to pick pumpkins or apples. Smysers Farm is located at 2890 South Salem Church Road York PA, 17408.
Haunted Attractions:
At Field of Screams, there are seven different haunted attractions. The Haunted Hayride, Den of Darkness, Frightmare Asylum, Nocturnal Wasteland, Escape Games and Extreme Blackout. Field of Screams was named the best extreme haunted attraction by USA Today. Field of Screams has been scaring people for 26 years, and will surely scare you too.
