This is Halloween: Party edition

Halloween is one of the biggest holidays of the year, and that means it’s time to celebrate. Use this simple guide to put together your very own spooky party.

Step 1: Find your location. Having a party in your backyard is always a safe bet and meets my standard party motto: if it’s easy and cheap, then it can’t be beaten! Every year, I set up a bonfire in my driveway with a couple of chairs and blankets and it works for everyone.

Step 2: Create your invitations. Evite is a great website with free templates to create eye-catching designs. One of their features includes a built-in RSVP system which makes it easy to see who is coming and who isn’t. Make sure to ask people to show up in their most creative costumes, too.

Step 3: Send them to your closest friends. I find that a smaller sized group is best since it creates a more intimate setting and is easier to plan for.

Step 4: Decorate, decorate, decorate! A few decorative touches are always fun for a simple gathering. Personally, I get orange and black tablecloths, napkins and plastic utensils and leave it at that. Less is more in my opinion.

Step 5: Plan out your menu. This aspect revolves a lot around the time of your party, but if you’re planning on a time around dinner, finger food is the way to go. Because I always have a bonfire, I buy hot dogs and s’more supplies for people to put together themselves. I find that other party foods like chips, pretzels or sodas are also good for snacking.

And, finally Step 6: Enjoy your time together. Once all the planning is through and everyone is over, it’s time to relax and enjoy yourself. Nights like these will be over before you know it, and soon you’ll miss these moments the most. Put away your phones, play some games and appreciate the company of your loved ones. Happy Halloween!
