          It was a successful season for the Central York Girls Soccer team as they won their third consecutive YAIAA County Championship. Overall, the team went 14-5-1 for the season. Unfortunately, their season ended in the first round of district playoffs.

         “The girls that were on the team this year made this season better than the others. Our team was like a family. We all got along and were constantly pushing each other to do our best,” said Madison Davis, a Junior Defender.

         “Northeastern moved up this season, and I am sure [they] will be looking to prove that they belong,” said Coach Ocasio, who is entering his ninth coaching season at Central.

         Tryouts help determine the varsity and JV teams for the year. This year, Coach Ocasio says the tryout process was tough.

         “This year, we did a lot more teaching and breaking down of skills. In other years, we have done a lot more game play,” said Ocasio.

         Throughout the past couple years, for most high school seniors, they have been watched. Many colleges send scouts to find the best athletes. Here at Central, we have seen many, and most like what they see in our students athletes.

         Senior Breann Craley is one of Central’s students who has been offered scholarships for sports. Craley has been contacted by four different colleges, Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, West Chester, and Monmouth, about field hockey.

Central York High School junior Carson Bacha has already verbally committed to Auburn University to play golf.

          “Auburn is a top-notch school both academically and athletically. We are ranked seventh in the country right now, and so that was a big factor. I also just love the coaches, the campus and the atmosphere in Auburn,” Bacha says.

          Bacha has his eyes on his future. He wants to play professional golf someday is willing to put the time in to make that happen.

Official Media Statement: Brad Livingston (Central York FB)

"Simply, succinctly stated – I will not be returning to coach the CYHS football team in 2016. I have been terminated effective immediately. There will not be any further comment from me regarding the school district’s decision. Suffice it to say that my departure is not voluntary. I will confirm that I had planned to continue as Central York’s head football coach next season.

I am extremely grateful to all our current and former athletes, our extended coaching staff, and the Central York community for their support of this football program.
