Model UN

The Model UN club, advised by Matthew Monahan, is a debate style club at Central York High School. Working to help the club run smoothly, student leadership includes Carter Grimm, Dan Risser, Jack Vlazny, Charlotte Long and Daniella Feistritzer.

The club has weekly meetings during flex where members get together and debate fun and entertaining topics to practice their skills for real world debates.

“It’s nice to debate things without discussing politics,” said club member Daniella Feistritzer regarding their meetings during flex.

The relaxed environment of the flex meetings are a bit different from their monthly events, the reason for their preparation. The club dabbles in a little more than casual debates during flex.

The club uses the skills acquired during their weekly meetings when they attend student developed conferences with other schools in York and Lancaster County.

The members of the club represent different countries and talk about political topics, much like the real United Nations. The members of the club are a part of different branches that discuss certain things during the conferences.

The Model United Nations club is a group of individuals here at Central who use their expertise to debate and converse about relevant world issues. Their hard work and dedication should not go unnoticed.
